Thanks to a generous donation from UCR's University Librarian, Steven Mandeville-Gamble (see http://ucrtoday.ucr.edu/29550), the Anthropology department offers a scholarship to cover a portion of the expenses for performing original anthropological research, including research performed during Study Abroad.

Who is eligible?

  • Undergraduate Anthropology majors at the Junior-level with a 3.30 GPA or higher

Requirements:
Award is administered through the Financial Aid Office and made annually to support original research projects by undergraduate Anthropology majors with junior class standing.

Majors with a minimum 3.30 GPA are welcome to submit an application that includes a research proposal (500 words or less) that includes the academic merit of the research and how the research advances the student’s academic and career goals. A departmental committee will review applications and select award recipient(s). Once awarded, funds must be used in support of original field research during the summer between the junior and senior years, or during the senior year. Students are required to submit a report within 3 months from the last day of the research funded by the award, or by the last day of instruction of their graduating quarter, whichever date is earlier.

Information on how to apply for each of these departmental scholarships will be posted and/or links to each application after November 1.
